NEAA Wraps Up Successful Fall Sports Program

This past November, the North End Athletic Association (NEAA) completed its most robust fall sports programming in its 60+ year history of providing quality events, activities, sports programs and social events to the community.

The fall sports included soccer for boys and girls 4-12 years old, a Flag Football League for boys and girls grades 3 to 10 and Girls Field Hockey for ages 8-14.

Soccer had 185 participants, Flag Football had over 50 players and Field Hockey attracted 15 players in its inaugural season.

“Not only did we have over 250 participants in these fabulous programs, we had over 60 volunteers, volunteer coordinates, coaches and commissioners that helped make these programs possible,” NEAA Coordinator John Romano said.

“We also had 20 sponsors partnering with Boston Police Area A-1 Community Service Office, that provided a free Ice Cream Day for the soccer program,” he said. “Over 20 parents and businesses provided donations to help cover part of the cost of the end of the year celebration with pizza, hot chocolate, donuts, munchkins, water and medals for all three programs.”

Two soccer games between the NEAA and Hill House, 9-12-year-old girls were held. “Something we look to build on next year,” Romano noted.
