Friends of Christopher Columbus Park (FOCCP) has placed second in Mayor Kim Janey’s 2021 Garden Contest in the “Storefront Organization, on Main Street District Garden Category†for the standing Crescent Garden, which is along the Harborwalk.
The contest, since 1996, recognizes gardeners that take pride in beautifying the city with gardening experience and dedicated work.
FOCCP volunteers that attend the Crescent Garden do not let a little rain, and there has been a lot of rainfall, deter them from keeping the garden up to par and beautiful.
This accomplishment by FOCCP Horticulture Chairs Terese O’Connell and Robyn Reed with the help of other volunteers. Should be recognized.
Grass and a bounty of colorful flowers are a testament of the hard work and creativity of the volunteers, according to FOCCP.
Work in the gardens take place on Sundays from 9:30 to 11 AM and on Wednesdays from 8 to 9:30 AM.
An awards ceremony will take place in the Boston Public Gardens at the Arlington Street and Commonwealth Avenue gate on Monday, August 23 at 5:30 PM.
Dedicated FOCCP volunteers need to be congratulated when you see them working in the park making the Crescent Park and the Rose Garden that these gardeners tend to do.
 The beautiful flower-beds throughout the park are cared for by the Boston Parks Department.
