An article published in the Boston Business Journal and repeated in other media sources claims that Mayor Martin Walsh is open to the possibility of building a $130 million soccer stadium in the city to house the New England Revolution which currently plays at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro.
“It’s about the growth of Boston. Something I’d be interested in. I’m open to a lot of ideas. It’s something I wouldn’t turned down. There will have to be a lot of discussion about the location,” the article quotes the Mayor. He added “I don’t know where it will go. We will have to see.”
If Suffolk Downs is forced to close its doors, it could be a potential site, at least according to some soccer fans the Review spoke to.
