NEWNC Wants Illegal Parking Dealt With

Some local residents that turned out for the NEWNC meeting.

NEWNC Committee on parking is preparing communications relating to parking in the North End during TD Bank Garden events including the Bruins and Celtic games.

The same letter will be sent to Captain Bernard O’Rourke, District A-1 Boston Police Commanding Officer to seek some assistance in dealing with the parking problem in the community during these games and other TD Bank Garden events.

The intention to head in this direction was publicly announced at NEWNC last monthly meeting by Committee chairman Ryan Kenny.

The correspondents claim that residents have become understandably annoyed when legally designated and clearly marked resident parking spaces are filled up by cars without the required stickers.

The proposed letter claims this problem is particularly severe when events are being hosted at the TD Garden.

As an initial step, NEWNC suggests more enforcement during TD Garden events by adding additional meter maids and/or police.

The enforcement will send a clear message to violators that these spaces are designated for residential use, that is what the letter will indicate.

The letter has not been sent as of this writing, but once completed and sent out the Review will publish its message of cooperation.
