Edward Francis DiCenzo

Retired Boston teacher and Army Reserve Colonel

Edward Francis DiCenzo of Boston’s North End died on June 1. He was 80 years old.

Mr. DiCenzo was a teacher in the Boston Public Schools for more than 30 years and was a retired Colonel in the Army Reserves.

He was the son of the late Edward and Anna (Riccotti) DiCenzo and brother of the late Arthur DiCenzo. He is survived by his loving companion, Lucille Argento, of Watertown and his cousin, Patricia LaRosa, and her husband, Nicholas, of Boston. He also leaves many cousins and friends.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Boston Harborside Home of JS Waterman-Langone. Burial was in St. Michael Cemetery, Boston. Margaret DeMarco

North End resident

Margaret DeMarco of Boston’s North End died on May 30. She was 88 years old.

The cherished wife of the late William DeMarco, she was the loving mother of William DeMarco and his wife, Marcia, Janis Mercadante and her husband, Richard, Maria Peracchi-Smith and her fiancé, Pablo Hernandez, and the late Marguerite Steriti; beloved grandmother of 17 and great-grandmother of 10; cherished sister of Helen Hastings and Rita DiBenedetto, both of Florida, and the late Pat Freddy, Johnny, Arthur, Lillian, Mildred, and Filomena. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Josephine Rose Alessi, 91

Boston resident

Josephine Rose (Mele) Alessi died in Boston on May 28. She was 91 years old.

She was the devoted wife of the late Andrew A. Alessi; beloved mother of John Alessi and David Alessi of Boston, and Mary Russo of Jamaica Plain, Andrew Alessi of Venice Beach, CA, Anthony Alessi of Wakefield and Dr. Joseph Alessi of Providence, RI; loving grandmother of Andrew Russo, Christopher Russo, Paula Avila, Roberta Alessi, Patrick Alessi, Brendan Alessi, Bridget Alessi, and cherished great-grandmother of Tia Avila, Emily Avila, and Matteo Russo; beloved sister of Ralph Mele of Winthrop, and Marion Driscoll of Boston. Funeral arrangements were by the Boston Harborside Home of J.S. Waterman & Sons, in Boston’s North End. Burial was at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, West Roxbury. David Conlon

Schepens Eye Research Institute CFO

David L. Conlon of Weston and West Dennis, formerly of the North End and South End of Boston, died suddenly on May 30.

A graduate of Newman Prep School, he received his BA in Accounting from Northeastern University and was the CFO of Schepens Eye Research Institute of Boston.

He was the beloved husband of Anne I. (Smith) and devoted father of Christopher D. Conlon of Weston.

Jemma Gizzi, 87

North End resident

Jemma Gizzi of Boston’s North End died May 28 in Boston. She was 87 years old.

She was the devoted wife of the late Carbarino Gizzi of the North End; beloved mother of Peter Gizzi and his wife, Marie, and Barbara Gizzi, all of Malden; loving grandmother of Peter, Michael and Maria, and cherished greatgrandmother of Alana and Michael; loving sister of Ann Moreschi and her husband, John, of Malden. She also leaves many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Rose Tecci, Anthony, Leonard, and William Centrella.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Boston Harborside Home of J.S. Waterman & Son. Burial was at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
