Majors season coming to an end

Regular season baseball for the NEAA/Nazzaro Center Majors will conclude this week and the playoffs will begin. An All Star Game will also be played.

Indians 10-Cardinals 8

In a very competitive up and down battle, between the Cardinals and the Indians, saw 18 runs cross the plate as the Tribe beat the Cardinals 10-8.

Starting pitcher J.C. Pezzuto struck out 8 Indian hitters in only two and two thirds innings on the mound.

The Indians took a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the 3rd but the Cardinals bounced back to tie the score 5-5.

The Cardinals took the lead in the 4th as Andrew Olivo singled and stole second, third and home for a 6-5 lead.

Zach Taieb hit a base scoring single in the 5th, once again knotting the score at 6-6.

Nick Mustacchio led off the 5th with a single, Ari Aminpour singled him home for a 7-6 Cardinal lead.

The Tribe started an uprising in the 6th. Jase Cherchi and Nicole Cerulli walked setting the stage for a two-run double by Guarino Vilar for the eventual game winning run.

The Indians used four pitchers, T.J. Shea, Paul Szulc, Nicole Cerulli and Guarino Vilar.

On the mound for the Cardinals were, J.C. Pezzuto, Nick Mustacchio and Nico Gennari.

Vilar led the Tribe’s hitting attack going 2-4 with 3RBI.

Pezzuto led the Cardinals with 2-3 and a RBI.

Cardinals 5-Indians 5

Trailing 5-0 after four innings, the Cardinals managed to tie their game with the Indians 5-5.

The Indians jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 1st inning as Solomon Taieb drove in Jase Cherchi with the Tribe’s first run. A four run 3rd inning gave the Tribe their final runs. Guarino Vilar doubled and scored on a 2 run single by Max Agin.

The Indians scored two more runs on a bases loaded walk to Zach Taieb.

Cardinal pitcher Nick Mustacchio regained his composure and shut down the Indians the rest of the game.

Indians pitcher Nicole Cerulli pitched the first three innings giving up one hit and striking out 8 Cardinal batters.

The Cardinals made it 5-3 in the 4th inning with a hit and 2 walks. Thomas Marchi had the hit.

Nico Gennari held the Tribe scoreless in the 4th striking out three batters while giving up a walk.

Four walks by Vilar allowed the Cardinals to tie the game.

Gennari kept the Indians scoreless for three innings and Paul Szulc shut the Tribe down in the 7th to preserve the tie.

Hitting stars for the Indians were Vilar 2-3 with an RBI and Agin with a hit and 2RBI.

Cardinals were led by Thomas Marchi 2-3 with an RBI.

Nick Shea made the defensive play of the game in centerfield.

Red Sox 5-Cubs 5

The Red Sox and Cubs played to a 5-5 tie in a competitive and seat squirming contest.

Richard Perez, with runs in scoring position, delivered a clutch hit tying the game.

Cubs took an early lead as Christopher Troiano ripped a bases loaded two-run single to centerfield.

Cubs pitcher Colman Shea struck out the last batter preserving the 5-5 tie.
