Family Overdose Support Fund Created

A Family Overdose Support Fund has been created by the City of Boston geared to supporting families who have lost loved ones to opioid overdose.

The funding ($250,000) will be implemented later this year as part of the City’s payment from multistate settlements with opioid manufacturers and distributors that Boston will incrementally receive, reportedly, at least $22 million through 2038.

Recipients can use the money to cover the cost of funeral services, therapy, legal services, childcare and other financial needs.

How this money should be used was apparently suggested by residents who were invited to participate in a community engagement process held by the city.
