Kennedy could run for Markey’s seat
U.S. Sen. Ed Markey will have to really step up his reelection bid if Congressman Joe Kennedy decides to jump into the race for one of the two Massachusetts seats in Congress.
The younger Kennedy not only has the name recognition, the Kennedy family has the ability to raise large amounts of campaign funds.
Due to the Kennedy factor, the race will attract national press and could cause some problems in the Democratic ranks.
Mayor is politically strong
Unless the political roof caves in, it appears Boston Mayor Martin Walsh can have his own dynasty at the helm of the City for a lengthily period of time.
Maybe not as long as Mayor Thomas Menino, but it’s highly possible he’ll come close.
This is possible for several reasons…
Walsh is a popular Mayor.
Walsh seems to be doing all the right things managing the City.
There appears to be no competitive candidate (not yet) that can take him on.
However, things change in the political circus.
T weekends station closures expected by riders
Shutting down several MBTA stations during weekends has been no real challenge for commuters that seem to have expected the move.
Riders have indicated that the construction taking place were badly needed for safety reasons and for better service, so they are dealing with the small inconveniences.
As long as the MBTA manages to keep the construction plans on time, there most likely will be no major complaints from the public.
NEWENSC fundraiser a worthful cause
A much-needed fundraiser “Bouna Sera) is currently being organized to benefit ABCD’s North End/West End Neighborhood Service Center (NEWENSC) programs for seniors and families. Beacon Hill as well.
NSC provides many functions that help local residents in many ways and can use some financial assistance to continue to do so.
This is a very active and productive neighborhood organization that simply gets the job done.

Smooth Sailing for NEAD Harbor Cruise
An enjoyable benefit, Boston Harbor Cruise, was held by North End Against Drugs (NEAD) that will continue to provide services, programs, field trips, and special events for the neighborhood.
NEAD volunteers, members and sponsors made the annual trip around the harbor another success.
The Cruise named after two NEAD members, the late Emile Pugliano and Robert “Bob†DeCristoforo.
NEHS celebrates 10th anniversary
The North End Historical Society (NEHS) celebrates its 10th anniversary.
NEHS took on the challenge of providing information and many events relating to the history of Boston’s most historic neighborhood.
The volunteer organization, brought forth knowledge of the amazing historical facts through research that produce many facts that were really unknown to the North End.
NEHS plans to continue on its historical mission that has thus far made a significant difference in historical knowledge.
Some North End dog park users leaving a mess
There seems to be a problem with not picking up after the dogs in the North End dog park in DeFilippo playground.
A lot of work went into securing a dog park for the North End and pet owners not picking up after their canine is not acceptable.
This is a case of laziness or not caring or a combination of both.
In either case, those that wish to be ignorant should try to wake up and start abiding by the rules so others don’t have to pick up for them in order to keep the park healthy for those who care.
