Boston Police Cadet Program Should Be Reinstated

After many years in limbo, the Boston Police Cadet Program has been reinstated opening up opportunities for city residents to eventually become Boston Police Officers.

A training program for qualified Boston youth seeking a career in law enforcement by enrolling in a minimum two-year commitment that requires candidates to be a city residents for the last five years.

One of the many solutions to boost diverse city in the workforce, came from the city’s diverse city first ever Workforce Report released by Mayor Martin J. Walsh in April 2015, examining diversity throughout municipal government.

Recruiting and cultivating diverse talent is a top priority for the Mayor’s Administration and the Cadet Program funding should be an easy sell to the Boston City Council.
