BLC Celebrates 40th Anniversary

Boston Landmarks Commission (BLC) is celebrating its 40th anniversary of working to safeguard the character of the City of Boston from iconic downtown buildings to vibrant neighborhoods.

BLC was established in 1975 to identify and protect historic buildings, structures, areas, and sites, review development and demolition activities affecting old properties, provide public information and assistance related to the preservation and archaeology and provide staff support to local Historic District Commissions.

The Commission does a monumental task of overseeing the over 8,000 properties within local Historic Districts or designated as individual Boston Landmarks by the BLC.
