While weather continuously caused the cancellation of the North End Athletic Association Opening Day baseball festivities, the organization after several attempts finally managed to get in a great baseball day and the games, a free barbecue and raffle to benefit the non-profit group was held at Langone Field on Commercial Street.
And estimated crowd of about 400 turned out during the course of the family day that was played in memory of Ralph “Arzie Bo†DeMarco a member of the NEAA since its inception over 50 years ago.
All the NEAA baseball teams participated in the day’s activities, T-Ball, Minor League and the Major League teams.
State Representative Aaron Michlewitz and Boston City Councilor Sal LaMattina attended and addressed the participants.
Sam Everett and Maddie Health sang the National Anthem accapella style.
