Thanks to the continued generosity of the Police Athletic League (PAL), 56 members of the Nazzaro Center Ski Club enjoyed the long St. Patrick’s Day week-end skiing Killington Mountain, the “Beast of the East†ski resort in central Vermont. Aided by a most fortuitous two feet of new snow just two days before the trip, the slopes were further carpeted with about 6 further inches by way of a steady snow drizzle all day and night Saturday. Even the sub-zero temperatures on Sunday, which deterred not one person from skiing, added to the near perfect conditions, as more powder was able to be added overnight through the snow guns.  All in all, the Nazzaro skiers and riders had probably the best two days of skiing in the long history of this trip, a tradition that goes back over 20 years! And for the 7th year, it was all made possible through the generosity of PAL, without whose donation very few people would be able to afford this trip. For an average cost of about $175 per person, amenities included two nights lodging at the Chalet Killington, which included two breakfasts, a Jacuzzi, an outdoor pool, game rooms, a cozy common room with fireplace and HD television and a two day lift ticket with equipment rentals if needed, a package that would normally hit quadruple figures for a family.
Although this all occurred only 130 miles from Boston, the ski club members would be hard pressed to believe that the whole week-end didn’t take place in heaven. Thank you PAL for another lifetime memory.
