Trash collection contracts have been put out to bid by the City of Boston that is looking for ways to improve its trash collection services, especially in the downtown neighborhoods, including the North End/Waterfront.
Boston City Councilor Sal LaMattina at the request of close to 1,000 residents, (a petition) through the Committee on City, Neighborhood Services and Veterans Affairs, has sponsored a hearing to discuss a possible time change from placing out household trash by 5pm on the day before to 6am on the day of with pickup at 9am.
Residents have expressed concerns related to increase problems particularly with the rodents, debris and litter spreading along sidewalks throughout the neighborhood.
Councilor LaMattina encourages residents to attend and testify on the potential change.
The meeting is scheduled for Monday, March 3 at 6pm at City Hall.
