Bike Paths Slated for Two More Streets

Nicole Freedman, Director of the City of Boston Bike Program told residents at a recent North End/Waterfront Residents’ Association (NEWRA) monthly meeting that the city plans to add bicycle lanes on North Washington and Cross Streets in the near future.

Some residents expressed concerns about potential problems on Cross Street because of the parking situation that currently exists where delivery trucks could be parked in these lanes blocking the path.

Others suggested placing signs at various locations instructing or warning of bike traffic and rules bicyclist need to abide by. Complaints were also registered regarding bikes on sidewalks and going the wrong way up one way streets.

Freedman said all the suggestions and concerns will be taken under advisement and would be changed if needed.
