Caffe Victoria on Hanover Street, North End was the site of a book signing by former Welterweight Champion of the World (1955) Tony DeMarco, a former Fleet Street resident.

Copies of DeMarco’s autobiography “Nardo: Memoirs of a Boxing Champion” were available for purchase at the Italian Caffe.

DeMarco who is often spotted in the North End talking to his many friends, defeated Johnny Saxton in the old Boston Garden to become the undisputed Welterweight Champ of the World.

Like in the movie “Somebody Up There Likes Me”, DeMarco was paraded by vehicle through the streets of the North End.

DeMarco is considered by many as the Ambassador of North End.
