Residents Call for North End Crime Watch

Stemming from a recent North End Public Safety meeting, where residents expressed concerns regarding what they called a deteriorating quality of life situation, called for more police in the neighborhood. Captain Thomas Lee Commanding Officer of District A-1 Boston Police quickly responded with the request and placed extra police officers on Hanover Street.

At the request of residents the Captain will have a representative from the Crime Watch Unit at the next Public Safety meeting scheduled for Thursday May 1 at 6:30pm in the Nazzaro Community Center, 30 North Bennet Street.

Numerous residents told police that they would like to start a Crime Watch Program in the North End. This has been attempted before but nothing really materialized.

The Review has covered several community meetings where the idea of a Crime Watch was suggested. Since those meetings, no Crime Watch has existed, that we are aware of.

Over 70 residents turned out for the last Public Safety meeting to express their concerns.
