State Representative Aaron Michlewitz, whose district includes, the North End/Waterfront neighborhood has been appointed Vice-Chairman of the Joint Committee on Transportation for the 2011-2012 Legislative Session by House Speaker Robert DeLeo.
The 3rd Suffolk District is a major sector for the transportation industry, of which, the impact of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts economic vitality and transportation policies have significant impacts.
Rep. Michlewitz was also named to the House Ways and Means Committee which is responsible for crafting the budget and spending policies for the Commonwealth.
Rep. Michlewitz at the request of his constituents filed and helped pass the Green Ticket Bill which allows cities and towns to collect trash collection unpaid violations by charging landlords on tax bills.
Michlewitz said, “I am excited to have such vital committee assignments for the upcoming Legislative Session.” He added, “I am eager to continue my work and thank Speaker DeLeo for the added responsibilities.”
Michlewitz noted, “The transportation policies that the Commonwealth makes have a disproportionate effect on my district and with this appointment I fully intend to ensure that the quality of life of my constituents is taken into account when these policies are formulated.”
