Stephen Melamed

Co-Owner of Bayside Betsy’s restaurant

Stephen D. Melamed of Provincetown, formerly of Boston’s North End, died on December 6. He was 67 years old.

A US Army Vietnam Era veteran, he and his wife co-owned Bayside Betsy’s restaurant .

He was the beloved husband of Betsy (Rosenberg); father of Lori Melamed of Ipswich, Tracy Baker and her husband, Blake, of E. Longmeadow and Bruce Arbit and his partner, Marcos Pichardo, of New Jersey; grandfather of Kate and Brooke Baker and Max Perrault; brother of the late Paul Melamed. He leaves many close friends, most especially his beloved friends and colleagues George Myers and Nicholas Barbuto.

A non-denominational Funeral Service in celebration of his life was held in the Provincetown United Methodist Church. Burial followed in the town cemetery. In fulfillment of one of his last requests, following the burial, an informal gathering of his family and friends was held at Bayside Betsy’s Restaurant. Carmela Caputo

Of Revere, formerly of the North End

Carmela J. (Cantino) Caputo of Revere, formerly of Boston’s North End, died on December 7 following a brief illness. She was in her 88th year.

She was a longtime devotee of the Immaculate Conception Parish Community in Revere and a member of Revere Smart Set Seniors.

She was the cherished mother of Angela J. Tabb and her husband, Robert, and Joseph A. Caputo Jr. and his wife, Mary-Lou, all of Florida, Camille M. Punch and her husband, William A., of Boston’s Back Bay and Joanne T. Caputo-Carfagna and her husband, Alfred, of Revere; dear sister of Philip Cantino of Quincy, Anthony P. Cantino of Revere and Salvatore Cantino and his wife, Maria, of Bedford; devoted grandmother of Denise and Jeffrey Taro, both of New Hampshire, Devon Punch of Tewksbury and Anthony J. Caputo of New York City. She is also lovingly survived by her great granddaughter, Chelsey Iowa of New Hampshire.

Funeral arrangements were by the Vertuccio & Smith Home For Funerals, Revere. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Chelsea Soldiers Home, 91 Crest Ave., Chelsea, MA 02150 Attn. Patients Activities Fund.

Stephen Fusco

Auto Mechanic

Stephen A. Fusco of Revere died unexpectedly at home on December 5. He was 55 years old.

Born and raised in Revere, he was a graduate of Revere High School, Class of 1973. Most of his working career was as a mechanic for several area auto dealerships.

He was the cherished father of Ncole M. Toompkins and her husband, Michael, of Hudson, NH and the late Stephen A. Fusco, Jr.; the beloved son of Marie D. (Catino) Fusco with whom he made his home and the late John L. Fusco; the dear brother of Sherry A. Marino and her husband, Robert, of Saugus,  Dorothy M. Pimental and Sandra L. Popps, both of Revere; loving grandfather of Christopher M. and Nichlas A. Tompkins of Hudson, NH and the late Zachary N. Tompkins, who died unexpectedly on March 8, 2010 at the age of 11 from “Long QT-Syndrome..” He is also lovingly survived by his devoted companion, Marguerite Belbene of Boston’s North End.

Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Saturday, December 11 from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Vetuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107) Revere. A Funeral service will follow in the Funeral Home at 5:15 p.m. Burial will be private. A playground and social center is planned to be dedicated to “Zachary M. Tompkins” in Hudson, NH. The family asks that memorial remembrances be made to the Zachary M. Tompkins Memorial Fund (501c3) 31 Flying Road Road, Hudson, NH 03051.

Anna A. Taylor

Raised in the North End

Anna A. Taylor,  (Imbornone) of Revere, born and raised in the North End of Boston, quietly passed away in the loving arms of her family on Dec 8th. Beloved wife of the late Kenneth. Devoted mother of Ann DeLorenzo and her husband Stephen of Salem, James and his wife Kim of Lynn, Denise Taylor of Revere, Robert and his wife Michel of Swampscott, Joseph and his wife Lynda of Pelham NH, and the late Kenneth Jr. Dear sister of the late Christine DiMarino, Jenny DeGregorio, Catherine Giarratani, Frank Imbornone, Gino Imbornone and Domenic Imbornone. Loving grandmother of Anthony, Andrew, James Jr, Jennifer, Scott, Mia, Ava and Jacob. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Paul Buonfiglio & Sons-Bruno Funeral Home 128 Revere St Revere on Monday Dec 13th at 8:00 am Funeral Mass in St Anthony’s Church at 9:00 am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
