BPD needs to consider changes to 470-foot tower proposal
Two Neighborhood groups have urged the City of Boston Planning Depart (BPD) and the developer, RMP Group, LLC to consider making changes to a proposed 470-foot tower along Medford, Causeway and North Washington Streets in the Bulfinch Triangle.
Both the North End/Waterfront Residents’ Association (NEWRA) and the West End Civic Association (WECA) have expressed the need for significant adjustments in the draft plan that would bring the project into compliance with the Bulfinch Triangle District Zoning, which is zoned for 100 feet.
The scale of this project definitely needs to be addressed by BPD with input from the developer and the community.
Construction impacts and how they can be minimized should be a topic of discussion as well.
Other points of interest that need to be addressed are equity and mitigation of Boston’s housing crisis that is not identified on the draft proposal.
Air quality, parking, and traffic planning are also imperative in the planning of the massive proposed development. The impacts on local businesses have to be considered as well.
It’s clearly obvious that BPD has a lot to consider before they put a final stamp to move forward with current plans or to consider making changes to the proposal that could make for a better situation for the community.
