John J. Ragucci

Of Somerville

John J. Ragucci of Somerville, passed away of a brief illness on Friday, May 19, 2023. He was 78 years old.

Born in Boston. He was the son of the late Joseph J. and Josephine (Giannino) Ragucci. John loved watching anything sports related, especially if it was a New England team. You could always hear him cheering on his favorite team while enjoying a miller light.  He enjoyed playing darts, attending St. Anthony’s feast or being a jokester. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, they were the light of his life. John was a HVAC mechanic for the Pipefitters Local 537,  and a member for 50+ years. He was also a beloved member of St. Anthony’s Club in the North End. John’s love for his family and friends was selfless, and he will be missed by all. 

John was the beloved husband of 39 years to Ann T. (Miscavage) Ragucci. He was the devoted father of Joseph Ragucci and his wife Sondra of Washington State, Christina “Chris” Grace and her husband William “Billy” of Barrington, NH, Kimberly “Kim” Volz and her husband Scott of Somerville, and Jean Ragucci of Florida. The loving grandfather of Tyler, Kaylie, Kyle,  Sophia, Scott, Brinley, Shayne and Jayce, and the great grandfather of Kailah and Alexis who will be born this June. The dear brother of Carmine Ragucci of Maine and his late wife Maria, Theresa Sabbio and her husband Frank of Florida, Robert Ragucci and his wife Christine of Massachusetts, Angelina “Angie” Marco of Massachusetts and her late husband Johnny, and the late Geraldine Romano. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. 

A Funeral Procession was held from the George L. Doherty Funeral Home 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq.) on Saturday, May 27. Followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Raphael Church 512 High St., Medford.

Relatives and friends were respectfully invited to attend.

Services concluded with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in John’s name to Dana Faber Cancer Institute.

Daniel Cataldo

Retired Member of Laborers Union Local 22; Most of All, He Loved Spending Time With His Family

Daniel A. Cataldo of Revere, formerly of Boston’s North End, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 23.

Danny worked in construction for the Laborers Union, Local 22, until his retirement in 2000. After retirement, Danny enjoyed meeting up with friends at the Salem Spa, golfing and the annual trip to Maplewood Golf Course in NH. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.

The loving son of the late Giacomo and Lucia (D’Angelis) Cataldo, he was the beloved husband of the late Carol Ann (Imperato), devoted father of Daniel A. Cataldo, Jr. and his wife, Adele, Christine Marks and her husband, Robert Jr. and Tracy D’Elia and her husband, Ralph, all of Revere; cherished grandfather of Daniel A. Cataldo III, Louis Cataldo, Ann Marie Valerese, Robert Marks III, Daniel Marks, Taylor D’Elia and Jordan D’Elia and great-grandfather of Capria, Valentina, Adrianna, Lorenzo, Carmin, and Antonio; dear brother of the late Susan Cataldo, Joseph Cataldo, Lydia Zizza, Josephine Mestone, Vilma DiFronzo, Dolores Merola and Anthony Cataldo. He is also survived by his loving in-laws Pasquale Merola, Annette Cataldo and many nieces and nephews. 

Funeral arrangements were by the Paul Buonfiglio & Sons-Bruno Funeral Home, 128 Revere Street, Revere. Following a Funeral Mass in Saint Leonard of Port Maurice 

Parish, 320 Hanover St,, Boston, Interment was in Holy Cross Cemetery.

James J. Campano

Of Somerville

James J. Campano of Somerville, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2023. He was 82.

Born in Boston and raised in Boston’s West End. He was the son of the late Frank and Mary (Mikonis) Campano. James’s career was full of life. He was the founder and writer for the West Ender Newsletter, which he founded in 1985.  He was not only a successful writer, but he also had a few TV shows on the Somerville Access Television Channel, worked for the democratic party for 12 years and was also the cofounder of the West End Museum.  Jim was also published on the Front page of the Wall Street Journal in the year 2000 for keeping the West End history alive. He was also the president of the Old West End Housing Corp. Jim was a family man and loved his family.

He was the beloved husband of the late Kathleen (Hennigan) Campano. The devoted father of Kathleen C. Kirby and her husband Michael of Redmond, Washington and James Campano Jr. of Charlotte, NC. He was the loving grandfather of Iain, Noah, and Declan. The cherished brother of Irene Magliano of Arlington and the late Gerry Campano, Ann Alfonso, Frank Campano, John Campano, Bronoslav Campano, Anthony, Campano and Paul Campano.  He is also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

A Funeral Procession was held from the George L. Doherty Funeral Home 855 Broadway (Powder House Sq) on Wednesday, May 31 at 9:00AM. Followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Clement Church, 64 Warner St., at 10:00AM.

Interment was private.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in James’s name to West End Museum.
