Due to the COVID-19 situation, the May monthly schedule for NEWRA, NEWNC and FOCCP have not been confirmed or canceled. Interested parties should contact the organization (s) for more information.

File Census Forms

The 2020 Federal Census is being conducted online and residents are encouraged to participate in the movement, which has an impact on the State and City.

Playground Closed

The children’s playground at Columbus Park has been closed until further notice.

Membership Drive

Mayor Suggests Curfew

Mayor Martin Walsh has recommended a curfew in the City of Boston from 9 PM to 6 PM in order to help curb the spread of COVID-19. The measure is not mandatory as yet.

NEAA Golf Tournament

North End Athletic Association (NEAA) will hold its annual benefit golf tournament on Monday, August 3 at the Andover Country Club. For details call Lewis Cavagnaro at 617-523-7410.

Dog Parks Closed

Due to non-compliance with the rules, RUFF has closed both dog parks in the North End indefinitely.

RMV May Extensions

Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV) has implemented further extensions to renewal timelines for the month of May to 60 days.

No in Person Registration

Customers seeking to renew registrations with the Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV) can continue to do so online at www.Mass.Gov/RMV at this time.

Those seeking to do so in person will not be able to make an appointment and should delay visiting a service Center as well.

RMV Deals With COVID-19

Since Governor Charlie Baker declared a State of Emergency the week of March 19, the Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV) has implemented measures to reduce the number of people gathering on a daily basis at their sites.

NEAD to Reschedule Family Dinner

North End Against Drugs (NEAD) plans to reschedule the Monday, March 23 Family Dinner/Family Talk which was canceled due to the Coronavirus situation. NEAD will make notifications of the new date.

Center Only Open for Food Distribution

Nazzaro Community Center, 30 North Bennet Street will only be open as a food distribution site. All other program suspended until further notice.

BPL Expands Services

Boston Public Library (BPL) has expanded statewide remote services and online events.

Gala on The Greenway

The Gala on The Greenway is the Conservancy’s signature fundraising event. Mingle with the Greenway Conserancy’s top supporters, including elected officials, business and other community leaders, and Greenway neighbors while enjoying cocktails and hors d’oeuvres under a festive tent on The Greenway, June 4, 6 to 9 p.m.

The North End/Waterfront Residents’ Association (NEWRA) conducts meetings the second Thursday of each month at the Nazzaro Community Center, 30 North Bennet Street at 7 p.m. No meetings on holidays. Meetings are as follows: April 9, May 14, June 11, July 9, August 13, September 10, October 8, November 13, and December 10.

The North End/Waterfront Neighborhood Council (NEWNC) meets the second Monday of each month at the Nazzaro Community Center, 30 North Bennet Street at 7 p.m. No meetings on holidays. Meetings are as follows: April 13, May 10, June 7, July 12, August 9, September 13, October 11, November 8, and December 13.
