Cello Concert by Webb Scholars March 22

On Sunday, March 22, come to The Church on the Hill for a concert performance by two cellists.   This concert will feature the talents of Solomon Hearn and Amalia Ali, both George James Webb Scholarship Winners.  Solomon will perform the “Cello Sonata in D Minor” I. Allegro non troppo – Largo and III. Largo.  Solomon has been playing the cello for 12 years, and currently studies with Mark Churchill. He is a member of the Boston Philharmonic Youth Orchestra with conductor Benjamin Zander.  Amalia will perform “Cello Concerto No. 1 in G Minor, Op. 49” by Dmitry Kabalevsky and “Cello Suite No. 2 in D Minor BWV 1008”  IV. Sarabande by Johann Sebastian Bach.  Amalia began her studies with Project STEP in the fall of 2006 and is in her 12th and final year.  She currently studies cello under Dr. Carol Ou. Amalia is a senior at the Brimmer and May School in Chestnut Hill where she is an active participant in school initiatives for student diversity, leadership, and her school’s STEAM Diploma program.  This concert will begin at 3 pm..  The concert is open to the public and admission is $5; there will be a reception with savory and sweet delights immediately following (handicap accessible).
