No Soccer Program Due to Construction

This year’s North End Athletic Association (NEAA) Soccer program will not take place due to construction at Puopolo Park.

However, to replace the activity, the Nazzaro Community Center will compensate by starting its Small Fry Basketball Program earlier. Watch for details posted at the Center or in this newspaper.

Congressman Lynch NEWRA Speaker

Congressman Stephen Lynch was the guest speaker at the August monthly meeting of the North End/Waterfront Residents’ Association (NEWRA).

Dine Out Boston Returns

Dying Out Boston continues on August 23 and August 25-30 with lunch prices from $15, $20 to $25. Dinner price ranges from $28, $33 to $38.

Sidewalk Completion Date

Reconstruction of sidewalks at various sections of Atlantic Avenue and Surface Road/Purchase Street is expected to be completed by the end of August.

Dog Park Closure

The North End Dog Park will be closed during Saint Anthony’s feast weekend, August 23 and 24.

TD Garden Carnival of Dogs

TD Bank will present The Carnival of Dogs on Saturday, Sept. 7, starting at 10 a.m., featuring a variety of dog-friendly activities and vendors. RUFF will have a table at this event.

NEHS Celebrates 10th Anniversary

The North End Historical Society (NEHS) will celebrate its 10 Anniversary on Wednesday, Nov. 6, in the community with a very special guest. More details soon.

Summer Play

Every Thursday through September, The Greenway holds a summer play program at Chin Park for kids of all ages from 5-7 p.m. Weather permitting.

Gardening on The Greenway

Gardening on The Greenway’s Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy and Crescent Gardens takes place each Wednesday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Volunteers are welcome.

City Winery on The Greenway

Boston’s first outdoor wine garden, City Winery on The Greenway will open at Dewey Square on Wednesdays and Fridays from 2:30-10 p.m., Saturdays from 1-9 p.m. and Sundays 11 a.m.-7 p.m.

NSC Free Lunch Programs

Anyone that would like to participate in the North End Neighborhood Service Center’s free lunch program should call 617-523-8125 to reserve a spot for future meals. New clients must sign up to receive membership with ABCD. All luncheons will be announced in the timely fashion.

Old North Church Has New Hours

The Old North Church has expanded its hours of operation through October 31, from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. 7 days a week. The church is always open for public worship between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Sundays.

Homework Help

The North End Library, 25 Parmenter Street will provide homework help for kindergarten through grade six on Wednesdays from 4-6 p.m.

Arts and Crafts

Arts and Crafts are held every other Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Villa Michelangelo. For more information call 617-523-8125. In class, seniors use their muscles in their hands and arms and engage in planning and critical thinking, while being with the peers.

Past projects have included painting, flower design, centerpieces, collages and masks. Material for projects will be provided. For more info call 617-523-8125.
