North End Projects Receiving Fair Share of Capital Budget

At ceremonies to announce the completion of millions in improvements to the Paul Revere Mall (Prado) and the North End, Boston Mayor Martin Walsh told residents that a $2.78 billion and capital investment that will be used over the next five years including protection in the North End from sea-level rise due to the low-lying coastline.

The City’s capital budget will invest $15.3 million in resilient open space like Langone Field and Puopolo Park, $1 million for playground renovations for Christopher Columbus Park and $200 thousand for Cutillo Park renovations.

Other investments in the North End include the final phase of the $35.6 million construction at the Eliot School, a $1.5 million investment to assess the physical condition of the North End Library, a $3 million investment towards the design of the new North End Community Center and a $25 million investment of public art reconstruction of North Square, which will include the installation of new public art.
