School Pepper Spray Policy Dissipates

Having BPS Officers equipped with pepper spray was not a very good idea, and the Review commends the Boston City Council and School Committee for dissipating the idea hopefully once and for all.

Handling the issue of discipline in the school system without providing pepper spray, or/and other kinds of spray, can be done without introducing this substance that is highly potent.

Dispensing pepper spray in a small area like a classroom or hallway could affect or injure unintentionally other students. Not to mention potential lawsuits and requiring medical teams to respond to the school where it may occur.

This was an ill advised policy to start with.
