Salem Street Lot Slated for 5-story Building

Plans to build a 5-story structure at 124-126 Salem Street will be reviewed by the North End/Waterfront Residents’ Association Zoning, Licensing and Construction committee to develop questions and comments for submission to the owner, Collin Yip, in advance of a possible vote on the project at the NEWRA January 9 monthly meeting, according to committee co-chair David Kubiak.

The owner presented plans at NEWRA’s November meeting calling for nine residential condominiums and a retail store or restaurant on the first floor.

Construction will take place on a parcel of land at 124-126 Salem Street that has long been used as a surface lot for up to 13 vehicles.

The land will not be excavated to protect abutting property.

Parking availability could be limited or none at all.

Residents at several meetings did not like the front of the building design which included rod-iron balcony railings.
