Of Randolph, formerly of the North End

Philip A. Lamonaca of Randolph, formerly of Boston’s North End, died on April 17. He was 72 years old.

He was the cherished son of the late Joseph and Linda (Fusco) LaMonaca; loving husband of Bridget (McBride) LaMonaca; beloved father of Lisa Blakely and her fiancé, Jarrod Collins, Linda Perry and her husband, Richard, Loretta Lyons and her husband, Marc, and Melissa Iskra and her husband, Anthony; adored grandfather of Philip, Brittany, Marina, Emma, Hannah, Mia, Abigail, Ella-Grace, Olivia, Jack Henry, Aidan, and Bridgette and loving brother of Vincent Ferrara and the late Sr. Linda LaMonaco, SND.

Carmen ‘Shorty McDuff’ Magnotta

Of Everett, formerly of the North End

Carmen E. “Shorty McDuff” Magnotta of Everett, formerly of the North and West End, died on April 10.

He was the beloved husband of Phyllis (Damato) Magnotta; loving father of Katherine P. Magnotta, Angelina Miele and her husband, Paul and Carmen E. Magnotta, Jr. He is also survived by three loving grandchildren, Michelle Miele and her fiancé, Tom, Paul Miele and his wife, Barbara and Carmen, III. He also leaves his dear friends Marie Abbruzzio and her family as well as his cousins James and Claire Imbruglia.

Maria LaCivita

Worked at Schraffts Candy and Lucia’s Restaurant

Maria (Serafini) LaCivita of Boston’s North End died on April 15. She was 80 years old.

She immigrated from Sulmona, Italy in 1967 and settled in Boston’s North End and worked at Schraffts Candy in Charlestown for many years and later at Lucia’s Restaurant.

She was the cherished daughter of the late Angelo and Madalena Serafini, beloved wife of the late Francesco LaCivita, beloved mother of Rocco and Angelo LaCivita and adoring grandmother of Robert, Ashley, and Ava LaCivita.

Patricia Puopolo

North End Resident

Patricia (Flaherty) Puopolo of Boston’s North End died on April 13. She was 86 years old.

The daughter of the late Edward V. and Marguerite (Harney) Flaherty, she was the beloved wife of Arthur “Arty” Puopolo. She was the sister of the late Edward and Jerri Flaherty and leaves many nieces and nephews.

Carlo ‘Carl the Biff’ Abruzzio

Of Revere, formerly of the North End

Carlo J. “Carl the Biff” Abruzzio of Revere, formerly of Boston’s North End and Medford, died peacefully on April 16 surrounded by family and friends. He was 84 years old.

He was the beloved husband of 54 years of Marie (Vaccaro), loving father of Thomas Abruzzio of Chelsea, Kenneth Abruzzio and Carla Havanidis and grandfather of George Havanidis, all of Revere; son of the late Thomas and Christine (Caruso), and brother of the late Thomas Abruzzio. He is survived by many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and many loving nephews, nieces, and cousins.

The family wishes to express its gratitude to Dr. Caridad and the nurses at Whidden Hospital, and also to the Magnotta and Imbruglia families.

Maria D. (DiCenso) Ricci of Medford, formerly of Boston’s North End, died on April 11.

She was the beloved wife of Vincenzo Ricci; devoted mother of Franco Ricci and his wife, Alicia of Malden, mother in law of  Yvonne Ricci of Medford, wife of the late Ascenzo Ricci; loving grandmother of Danielle O’Brien of Stoneham and Damien Ricci of Quincy; cherished great grandmother of Nicholas, Emily and Natalie O’Brien and Colette Ricci; dear sister of Concetta Franciosa of Medford and the late Emma DiCenso. Funeral arrangements were by the Dello Russo Funeral Home, Medford. Entombment was in Holy Cross Mausoleum, Malden.
