Boston resident

Frances M. (Cascio) Valvo of Boston died on October 16.

She was the beloved wife of the late Paul Valvo; loving mother of Michael Valvo of Haverhill; sister of Salvatore Cascio of Medford.

Donna Riordan

North End resident

Donna M. Riordan of the North End died on November 15.

She was the beloved mother of Michelle Harrison, grandmother of Jonathan Harrison, sister of Marion Mellon, Regina Towner and the late Edna Parker and Charles Riordan, sister in law of Margaret Riordan and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Nicola Agostino

North End resident

Nicola Agostino, a resident of Boston’s North End, died on November 10. He was 97 years old.

Survivors include his loving wife, Julia (Simari) Agostino, to whom he has been married for 73 years.

He was born in Gioiosa Ionica, Italy, in the province of Reggio Calabria, on June 6, 1913, a son of the late Vincenzo and Maria Rosa Agostino. He is also survived by his devoted children, Italo Agostino of Chelmsford and his fiancée, Marie McNamara, of Pelham, NH, and Rosetta Sabbag and her husband, Daniel, of Bedford, MA; five cherished grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He also leaves a very dear cousin, Cindy Tackett of Woburn and numerous other cousins, nieces, and nephews both in the United States and in Italy. Mr. Agostino was the father of the late Romualdo Agostino and three late sisters.

Patricia Anne Dinard

Worked at Ropes & Gray

Patricia "Pat" Anne Dinard, longtime resident of the North End of Boston, died peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on November 12.

Her passions included traveling, knitting, fashion, reading and cooking. She was a graduate of Simmons College and worked at Ropes & Gray for 27 years where she made lifelong friends.

She was the daughter of Mary and Peter and is survived by her cousin, Marianne and nieces, Michi and Patty.

A celebration of her life will be held on November 30 from 6 to 9 pm at Casper Funeral Home, 187 Dorchester Street, South Boston.To honor her love of cats, donations can be made to the Northeast Animal Shelter, 347 Highland Avenue, Salem, MA 01970 (http://www.northeastanimalshelter.org).

 

Angelo ‘Harry’ Lepore

Of Florida and the North End

Angelo "Harry" Lepore of Boca Raton, Florida and Boston’s North End, died on November 11.

He was the beloved son of the late Raffaele and Rosina (Maffeo) Lepore; devoted brother of Charles Lepore and Alfred Lepore, both of Boston, Americo Lepore of Woburn, the late Domenic, Anthony, and Nicholas and is also survived by many devoted nieces and nephews and many dear friends in Florida.

Mary Candelora

Jordan Marsh retiree

Mary R. (Sorrentino) "Auntie Mae" Candelora of Randolph, formerly of Dorchester and the North End of Boston, died on November 9. She was 85 years old.

Born in Boston, she was a graduate of Girls High School, Boston. She retired in 1984, after 25 years at Jordan Marsh and was a member of the Local 1445 United Food and Commercial Workers Union. She was also a member of the Local 1445 Retirees Club, the "Friendly Club" and the "Elmer’s Club" in Dorchester.

She was the wife of the late Victor Candelora; loving mother of Sandra Averill and her husband, Kevin, of Randolph and the late Kenne Candelora; dear grandmother of Christopher Averill of Alexandria, VA; devoted sister of Elizabeth Brabant of Wilmington, Lillian Tringale of Lexington, Catherine Giannone of Easton, Dorothy Ferullo of Dorchester, Louie Sorrentino of Yarmouth and the late Albert Sorrentino, Frank Sorrentino, Margaret Giardini, Rose Lerro and Sidney Sorrentino; daughter of the late Anthony and Maryann Sorrentino. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Elena J. "Helen" (Vetrino) Keen of Malden, formerly of Boston’s North End, died on November 12.

The beloved wife of the late Alvin Keen, she was the cherished mother of Brenda Keen of Stoneham; loving sister of Anna Turco of Peabody and the late Eugene Vetrino, Vincent Vetrino and Rose Pezzi; loving aunt of numerous nieces and nephews.

Gloria ‘Gigi’ Giannelli

Formerly of the North End

Gloria E. "Gigi" Giannelli of Methuen, formerly of the North End of Boston, died on November 17 surrounded by her loving family at the Holy Family Hospital in Methuen. She was 87 years old.

Born on March 31, 1923 in Boston, the daughter of the late Luigi and Anna (Cepelluni) Giannelli, she enjoyed spending time with her family and loved to cook for them. According to her family she loved to play bingo.

She will be sadly missed by her loving family which includes her daughter: Deborah A. Parlatore and her husband, Bruno Parlatore, of E. Hampstead, NH; her grandchildren, Sheri Parlatore and her fiancé, Howard Klatsky, of Worcester, Steven Parlatore and his wife, Tara Parlatore, of Salem, NH; her great grandchildren: Donovan Parlatore and Cole Klatsky She was the sister of the late Joseph and Anthony Giannelli.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at the Methuen Health and Rehabilitation Center for the excellent care during her stay.
