North End soccer fans can catch the World Cup action right in their own backyard today. Mayor Michelle Wu announced that Christopher Columbus Park will play host to a free, family-friendly watch party for today’s highly anticipated Quarter Final match.
The gathering is part of the city’s ongoing efforts to bring the tournament’s excitement directly into Boston’s neighborhoods, creating welcoming spaces for residents to come together close to home. No registration is required, and today’s match kicks off at 4 p.m. right in the park.
“Boston is a city of champions, and that spirit has been on full display throughout this World Cup,” said Mayor Michelle Wu. “As matches continue throughout July, we’re creating more free opportunities for fans to gather, cheer on their teams, and build community.”
There will also be watch parties for the remaining matches of the tournament, but locations will be announced at a later date. These upcoming games include the Semi Final matches on Tuesday, July 14 at 3 p.m. and Wednesday, July 15 at 3 p.m., the Third Place Match on Saturday, July 18 at 5 p.m., and the Final Match on Sunday, July 19 at 3 p.m.
