NEW Health Announces Annual Elaine Wilson Scholarship for Aspiring Health Care Professionals

North End Waterfront Health (NEW Health) announced the opening of applications for the 2nd annual 2025 Elaine Wilson Scholarship for Community Health Outreach and Service. The scholarship will recognize a resident of Boston’s North End and Charlestown neighborhood who is a matriculating student or applying to an institute of higher learning, who displays a genuine interest in community primary care, public health, and/or community outreach to those who are low income, underserved or facing health inequities.

Named for the Founder of NEW Health, Elaine Wilson, this $2,500 scholarship is open to anyone from high school through graduate level training.

Applications for the Elaine Wilson Scholarship can be submitted online here or printed out and dropped off at either NEW Health location. The submission deadline is August 1, 2025. NEW Health has also launched The John Foster Scholarship for staff only; this $2,500 scholarship will be presented to a NEW Health professional who is being recognized for their hard work and dedication to patients and the community. This scholarship is named for former NEW Health Chief Medical Officer Dr. John Foster, who retired in January 2024 after nearly 35 years at the health center.
