Many North End residents and their families participated in the recent Independence Day Celebration coordinated annually by the Friends of Christopher Columbus Park (FOCCP).
Held under the trellis on the west lawn, the community event featured: Tony Gangi and The Great American Street Organ, lawn games by Knuckslebone, North End Library face painting, a crafts table, Peter the Magician, magic, singing and dancing, Big Joe the Storyteller, Bruce and Jane balloon animal making and a Giant Bubble.
Sponsors for the family-fun-filled event included: Boston City Harbor Cruises, Meet Boston, Joe’s Waterfront/Taviistocks, North EndBoston.com, Marriot Boston Long Wharf, CL Properties, Boston Parks and Recreation, City of Boston, Carey Alexander and Chris Basset.
A raffle was held to win passes to the Aquarium and the Greenway Carousel.
“Drizzly and chilly day, but the families who came had a fabulous time! Parents were delighted to have such a fun entertainment on a less than perfect Saturday,” said President Joanne Hines Rines.
