Two proposals were supported by the North End/Waterfront Neighborhood Council (NEWNC) and one request was withdrawn to work with abutters to make required changes.
NEWNC also had a guest speaker Benjamin Adeyinka, Deputy Court Administrator, Housing Court.
Plans by Anthony Virgilio to raise the existing structure at 51 North Washington St. to include a six-story residential building with nine units, six parking spaces and a roof deck were withdrawn in order to meet with abutters to make some required changes.
A proposal by Mark Little to construct a roof deck on an existing 55-foot building at 8-12 Battery St. was unanimously approved by the Council. The current roof deck is apparently in dire need of repair, so the owner wants to replace it with a new roof deck.
Also supported was a request by Reverend Steven Ayers, Old North Church, for capital improvements, including crypt restoration. The final design work for the Washington Garden is underway.
The Church was seeking community support on the design and construction plans and endorsement of a new application for CPA grant funding. Due to the October 14 Columbus Day holiday, NEWNC has moved their monthly meeting to Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m.
