A Kaleidoscope of Musical Gems

On Sunday, May 5, 2019 come to the Church On The Hill for a concert of music written by composers from Antonio Vivaldi to Undine Moore.  The concert will begin at 3 p.m. Some of the music to be performed will be:Ce Moys De May,Il desio di Vendetta a di Morte (from Lucio Silla), Schon eilet froh der Akkermann (from Seasons),Spring (from The Four Seasons), Alma Brasileira, En Une Seule Fleur, Love Let The Wind Cry…How I Adore Thee and many more.

This concert is free and open to the public but you must have a ticket. Organ Dedication Concert

The Boston Society of the New Jerusalem, also known as Church on the Hill incorporated in 1818, has installed a new Allen Organ G330.  The Allen G330 is truly an amazing instrument and has been especially designed to take advantage of the church’s superb acoustics.  In addition to the speakers in the balcony, a special set of speakers has been installed in the front of the church for antiphonal affect.  

The Organ Dedication concert will take place on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at 2 p.m.  The guest organist will be Forrest Eimold.  His most recent organ performances have received praise from publications such as The Washington Post (“Organist Forrest Eimold responded ably to the many virtuosic demands of Wachner’s writing”) and The New York Times (“This is the best Messiah in New York”).  The performance will include: Prelude and Fugue in A Major, BWV 536 (c. 1710) by Johann Sebastian Bach, Organ Sonata No. 3, Op. 65 by Felix Mendelssohn, “Fugue, Chorale, and Epilogue,” No. 4 from Six Pieces for Organ by Herbert Howells and others.

NEWNC Annual Election/May 18

North End/Waterfront Neighborhood Council (NEWNC) will hold its annual election of board members on Saturday, May 18 at the Nazzaro Community Center, 30 North Bennet Street from 10 AM to 2 PM. All residents are encouraged to vote.

NEWRA Monthly Meeting

The next North End/Waterfront Residents’ Association (NEWRA) will take place on Thursday, May 9 at 7 PM at the Nazzaro Community Center, 30 North Bennet Street. All residents are welcome to attend.

NEWNC Monthly Meeting

The North End/Waterfront Neighborhood Council (NEWNC) monthly meeting will be held Monday, May 13 at 7 PM at the Nazzaro Community Center. All residents are welcome to attend.

City Winery on The Greenway

This May, Boston’s first outdoor wine garden, City Winery on The Greenway will open at Dewey Square on Wednesdays and Fridays from 2:30 PM-10 PM, Saturdays from 1 PM -9 PM and Sundays 11 AM-7 PM.

NEWNC Candidates Night

A Candidates Night for the North End/Waterfront Neighborhood Council (NEWNC) annual election of Board members will be held on Monday, May 13 at 7 PM at the Nazzaro Community Center, 30 North Bennet St. All residents are encouraged to attend.

Public Art Tour

In participation with ArtWeek 2019, a tour of The Greenway’s public art program will be held on Friday, May 3 from 12 noon to 1 PM. The tour will also offer a sneak peek of what’s to come.

Food Truck Festival

The Greenway Spring Truck Festival sponsored by Citizens Bank takes place on Saturday, May 4 from 11 AM to 3 PM at Rowes Wharf Plaza on The Greenway.

Food trucks will be offering old favorites and new flavors.

Mayor’s North End Coffee Hour

The 2019 Mayor Martin Walsh’s Neighborhood Coffee Hour will be held at the Paul Revere Mall (Prado), on Tuesday, June 4 from 9:30 AM-10:30 AM. All residents are welcome.

NSC Free Lunch Programs

Anyone that would like to participate in the North End Neighborhood Service Center’s free lunch program should call 617-523-8125 to reserve a spot for future meals. New clients must sign up to receive membership with ABCD. All luncheons will be announced in the timely fashion.

Old North New Hours

The Old North Church has expanded its hours of operation from now through October 31, from 9 AM until 6 PM 7 days a week. The church is always open for public worship between 9 AM and 12 PM on Sundays.

Exploring New Flavors

The 2019 Greenway Food Truck Program officially kicked off this week, the Conservancy is excited to welcome 36 new and returning vendors to The Greenway this season.

Mobile Eats on The Greenway

 A new season of Greenway Mobile Eats is underway featuring 36 full tracks and carts with flavors from around the world offering a variety of affordable, unique cuisine from seven different locations across the park.

Seven new vendors for 2019 have been added to the popular event.

Homework Help

The North End Library, 25 Parmenter Street will provide homework help for kindergarten through grade six on Wednesdays from 4-6 p.m.

Arts and Crafts

Arts and Crafts are held every other Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Villa Michelangelo. For more information call 617-523-8125.          In class, seniors use their muscles in their hands and arms and engage in planning and critical thinking, while being with the peers.

Past projects have included painting, flower design, centerpieces, collages and masks. Material for projects will be provided. For more info call 617-523-8125.
