Returning to the Great Hall at Faneuil Hall, the North End Music and Performing Arts Center (NEMPAC) performed their production of Mozart’s Don Giovanni on June 21 and 23.
NEMPAC presented a fully staged opera sung in the original Italian with English subtitles performed by outstanding singers with orchestral accompaniment and featured NEMPAC theatre students.
Dr. Tiffany Chang returned to the podium this year to conduct the orchestra, and artistic and stage director Rebecca Miller challenged what a theatre space ‘has’ to be by reinventing Opera at one of the most historic non-traditional performance spaces and the City of Boston.
Straying from tradition this year, the NEMPAC Opera Project presented a preview performance on June 17 at Christopher Columbus Park.
Singers, accompanied by piano, featured songs of Mozart’s most memorable scenes from the opera providing a free taste of their production.
