Non-Residents Taking Advantage of Haymarket Parking Perks

A Channel 5 investigative report claimed more than half of the individuals taking advantage of discounted parking at the Haymarket Garage have been removed from the North End residents parking list for providing false information regarding residence.

Several months ago, the investigation found more than 40% of those getting the $5 a day parking perk were not actually eligible for the discounted parking spots that were supposed to be for North Enders only.

The perk was designed to mitigate parking loss due to the Big Dig.

Reportedly, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation has crack down on the parking discounts, curbing the list and revoking passes for all those who were not eligible.
