North End Dodgers baseball team seeking game day sponsors

By John Romano

Our North End Dodgers Traveling Baseball Program for youth ages 13 and up is seeking game day sponsors for umpires.

There are 4 teams in 2 different leagues broken up into 4 age groups.  The 14 and under team plays in the Lou Tompkins Baseball League.  The 16 and under team and the 21 and under teams also play in the Lou Tompkins League.  The 19 and under team plays in THE BASE League.  The teams are sponsored by the North End Athletic Association (NEAA) and are under the direction of Commissioner Ralph Martignetti.

The cost of the program far exceeds $13,000.00 to run including, league registration fees, umpires, baseballs and uniforms as needed.

The biggest expense is the umpires for each game.  Each of the 4 teams play a 24 game schedule with the North End teams being the home team in 12 games in each age grouping.  The cost of the umpires is $150 per game (2 umpires x $75 each ).  We have a total of 48 home games to pay for umpires.

If you would like to sponsor the umpires for a game it is $150 or if you want to just sponsor 1 umpire it is $75.

We are looking to get as many sponsors as we can.  If you are interested contact John Romano at (617) 750-9749 or [email protected]. Someone will meet with you to pick up your donation. You can also see Commissioner Martignetti down the park.  Checks should be made out to the NEAA.

You could also drop them in the mail at:

NEAA Baseball All Star Game-June 24

By Phil Orlandella

This year’s North End Athletic Association (NEAA) annual Majors (Little League) All Star Game will honor two people, the late James “Jimmy” Pallotta and the Publisher of the Post-Gazette Pam Donnaruma for their support of the Association and the youth of the neighborhood.

The game will be played under the lights at Langone Field on Commercial Street starting at 6 PM with the Donnaruma All Stars versus the Pallotta All Stars.

“Please join us to not only help us honor these two people, but also honor the Major League baseball players who have been selected as All Stars,” NEAA Baseball Coordinator John Romano said.

Free pizza, soft drinks and snacks will be provided for the players, families and those who attend the game. A balloon person will also be at the game.

An award ceremony will be held following the game. A Most Valuable Player will be selected from each team. Awards will be given to all NEAA players in the youth majors program. Special awards will be given to one player per team in honor of Uncle Fred Carangelo, the league most valuable player, pitcher of the year and sportsman of the year.

Anyone who would like to help sponsor this event which showcases the league’s best baseball players can send checks to the NEAA or contact John Romano at 617-750-9749 or by [email protected].

The NEAA is a non-profit community organization. It’s an all-volunteer agency that provides recreational and civic events through donations.
