Running for a Cause: Danielle Russell to Cross Boston Marathon® Finish Line with Tedy’s Team April 21

Danielle Russell of the North End will be running the 118th Boston Marathon® on Tedy’s Team, led by former New England Patriots linebacker and stroke survivor, Tedy Bruschi. Russell will be running in honor of her father who is a stroke survivor.

In 2010, Russell’s father suffered a severe stroke completely out of the blue. Thankfully, he was with family who called 9-1-1 and he was rushed to the hospital. After several tense days, doctors told Russell’s family that her father was on his way to recovery and likely would not exhibit any of the serious long-term side effects that affect many other stroke patients.

I look forward to running the Boston Marathon this year to honor those who cannot run and to give thanks for my health and the health of my family and friends, especially my father,” said Russell. “I am extremely honored to run as a member of Tedy’s Team, and to raise critical funds and awareness to help strike out stroke once and for all.”

On Monday, April 21st, Russell and over 70 members of Tedy’s Team will be motivated by their stroke heroes when they hit the pavement for the 118th Boston Marathon. They will celebrate the passion and inspiration of Tedy’s Team, honoring both survivors and the loved ones lost to the regions No. 4 leading cause of death. Consider these statistics:

The runners are taking a critical step toward raising awareness of stroke and its warning signs, as well as much needed funds for local research and educational programs.  To support Danielle’s fundraising efforts, visit http://tedysteam2014.kintera.org/russell.
