It is altogether fitting and just that a bronze statue of Tony DeMarco will finally be placed on Cross Street after nearly four years of planning.
DeMarco was one of the great fighters performing in the ring brilliantly and with flaming fury during boxing’s golden era.
DeMarco was perhaps the finest and toughest welterweight champion of his era. He was a giant figure in the boxing world then and he remains a giant figure in the boxing world today.
We applaud DeMarco’s achievements in the ring and his love for the North End.
It is altogether fitting and just that he be honored with a bronze statue for all to see.
There are no Tony DeMarco’s coming up the ladder in the boxing world today.
