The North End’s Robert Dello Russo did well locally but overall didn’t score as well as hoped and ended up losing the political race for the Criminal Clerk of the Suffolk Superior Court to incumbent Maura Hennigan.
Dello Russo was again attempting to unseat Hennigan, The Jamaica Plain Democrat got 63 percent of the votes cast for a surprisingly large margin of victory. She received more than 19,000 votes.
Dello Russo scored 908 votes in his home the North End to Hennigan’s 225.
Hennigan faces no challenger in November.
For Dello Russo, the popular local resident who served for many years as an assistant clerk of the Suffolk Superior Court, it was a disappointing outing.
Many local political observers believed he had an edge on Hennigan this time around because of her run-ins with the Ethics Commission.
In addition, Dello Russo concentrated his efforts where his name is relatively well-known, that is, on the other side of the Mystic River in Revere, Chelsea, East Boston and Winthrop.
However, in all of those communities, Hennigan scored better than expected and scored especially well in her neighborhood of Jamaica Plain.
