Santa Featured in North End Christmas Parade

Santa Claus and his friends are coming to the North End/Waterfront neighborhood to spread Christmas cheer and to participate in the 41st North End Athletic Association Christmas Parade which will venture up and down many local streets.

It all starts with the arrival of the jolly old gent by helicopter at 1pm at Puopolo Park on Commercial Street (weather permitting) on Sunday, December 11.

Local children and their families will join Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Bob the Builder, Wally the Green Monster, elves, reindeer and many other characters at the park to welcome Santa.

Once Santa is firmly on the ground, he’ll hop in his special convertible sleigh and join the popular well attended parade led by the Aleppo Shriners Clowns, The Boston Firemen’s Band, The Salem High School Band, Saint Alfios Band of Lawrence, The Roberto Clemente Twirlers, The Riverside Theater Group and the Italian-American Band of Lawrence.

In addition, horse-drawn wagons will carry children along the parade route, along with Smokin Joe’s Fire Engine Truck.

Cartoon characters will pass out balloons and candy on the arrival of Santa from the North Pole and along the parade route.

Helping to make this community endeavor possible is the Mayor’s Office of Arts, Tourism and Special Events, North End Against Drugs and the Nazzaro Community Center.

In case of inclement weather the holiday event will be held the following Sunday, December 18, same time and location.
