Freshman Dodgers Lose/Make Playoffs

While the NEAA Freshman Dodgers Baseball team lost their final game to the Nationals 10-7, they posted a 4-6 season record good enough to make the playoffs.

Both teams failed to score in the 1st inning. Robert Pagliuca made a spectacular defensive play keeping the game scoreless.

The Dodgers scored first in the 2nd. Eli Swab singled with one out, Navide Aminpour singled with two outs. Both runners stole bases making it 2nd and 3rd with two outs. TJ Shea walked loading the bases. Swab would score on a trick play with Shea pretending to steal second. Shea sold it so well that Swab was able to score and Shea reached second base and a 1-0 Dodgers lead. The next batter hit a sharp one hop liner to right but was thrown out at first saving two possible Dodger runs.

Mike Rausseo would breeze through the second and third innings with no damage getting all 6 outs.

The Dodgers threatened in the 3rd placing the first two batters on base but no runners crossed the plate.

The 4th inning turned out to be the Dodgers downfall as they committed four errors allowing six unearned runs with the Nationals taking a 6-1 lead.

The Dodgers scored two 5th inning runs but had two runners cut down at third ending a possible rally. Rausseo pitched a strong scoreless 5th inning before leaving the game.

The Nationals scored four runs in the 6th for a 10-3 lead.

The Dodgers made a game of it in the 7th scoring four runs of their own. Navide Aminpour singled and stole second, Jack Dittomassi singled home Aminpour. Robert Pagliuca walked, Jake French hit an RBI Single closing the gap to 10-5.

Mike Rausseo hit an RBI single, Aaron Cronin’s RBI single made the score 10-7 with two outs but the last batter would pop out to the second baseman ending the game.

Robert Pagliuca and Paul Szulic made good defensive plays and the hitting came from Aminpour 3-3, 2 runs scored, Dittomassi 2-3, 1RBI, French 2-3, 1RBI, 2 runs scored, Rausseo 2-3, 1RBI and Eli Swab 1-1.
