North End/Waterfront Residents’ Association (NEWRA) has selected George Collins of Unity Street as the first 2018 Good Neighbor of the Year.
He was named to receive the community award for actively cleaning the sidewalk and curb area in front of his home.
NEWRA Committee Chair Janet Gilardi presented Collins the community award calling George, “A community minded resident that cares about the cleanliness of the neighborhood.â€
Gilardi said, “he and his family get the job done several times a week and should be recognized for their actions on behalf of the neighborhood.â€
Collins noted, “I like to keep the appearance of the front of our building neat and clean.â€
           He said, “We have some tenants on the street that could care less and leave trash out any day of the week.†He added, “If everyone helped out with a little cleaning, we would have a cleaner neighborhood.â€
