Eda Raia

Shawmut Bank Retiree

Eda (Buonasaro) Raia of Tewksbury, formerly of Revere and the North End of Boston, died on September 26 at Saints Memorial Hospital in Lowell. She was 84 years old.

A long time clerk at Shawmut Bank in Boston, she was born and raised in the North End before moving to East Boston and Revere.

Mrs. Raia was the wife of the late Filippo Raia; devoted mother of Anthony and his wife, Lori of Haverhill, Filippo II and his wife, Rose of Pennsylvania, Mathew of Tewksbury and the late Francesco and his surviving wife, Stephanie of Malden; dear sister of the late Peter Buonasaro and Sarah Fatalo; cherished grandmother of 22, great-grandmother of 10 and great-great grandmother of two.

John Giuffre

50-Year owner and operator of the Do-DROP-In Restaurant of Boston

John J. Giuffre, a long time resident of Beachmont Revere, died on Saturday, September 21 at the Lighthouse Nursing Care Center of Revere. He was 94 years old.

Born in Boston’s North End, he moved to Beachmont Revere more than 60 years ago. For more than 50 years he owned and operated the Do-DROP-In Restaurant of Boston. John was also a truck driver and a member of Local #25.

He was the husband of the late Helen (Cullen) and the devoted and cherished father of John H. Giuffre, Peter Giuffre and his wife, Joanne and Cynthia LaBointe, all of Revere; the dear brother of Raymond Giuffre of Revere and the late Leah Clifford and the loving grandfather of Nicholas R. and Peter Giuffre, Renee and Juliette LaBointe, all of Revere.

Gerald Fiumara

Worked for the MBTA

Gerald Fiumara of Revere, formerly of Cambridge, died on September 23. He was 70 years old.

A late employee of the MBTA, he was the beloved husband of Pamela “Palmy” Rago; son of the late Gaetano and Theresa (Casseso) Fiumara; devoted father of Kathleen Fiumara Maggellet and her husband, Frank of California, stepfather of Jody LaBella-Conner and her husband, Brian of Medford, Anthony LaBella of Lynn and Joseph Bondanza of Revere; dear brother of Marie Bradbury of Medford and the late Michael Fiumara; loving grandfather of Bryan, Jordana, Alana, Nicolas, Rayna, Tayla, and Sofia. He also leaves many friends and his canine companion, Ana.

Funeral arrangements were by the Paul Buonfiglio & Sons-Bruno Funeral Home, Revere.
