Ruff March Activities Planned

Dogs out during Nemo in the North End.

Many local dog owners attended the RUFF monthly meeting held last week at the Nazzaro Community Center.

The community group also held a park and playground monthly clean-up last Sunday morning starting at the Prado. The next clean-up project will be held on Sunday, March 24, same time, same meeting place.

RUFF is working with the North End Spaulding Rehab Center to have local dog owners meet with patients on a regular basis. The group hopes to begin this neighborhood program this March 2013.

The group recently held a successful Doggie Play Date, hosted by the Dog Father which provided refreshments.

A March 8 sit-down/takeout restaurant fundraiser has been tentatively scheduled. Time and place to be announced.

RUFF conducted a survey asking many questions relating to the group’s activities. Results are available online.

A social event (line event) possible wine tasting has been scheduled tentatively for March 22. Time and place to be announced.

The group is discussing possible activities, programs and events with the North End Library, mostly education programs.

RUFF members were advised of a major American Cancer Society Bark For Life, a canine event to fight cancer, being held at the Boston Common on June 2 from 1-3pm.

Talks of one or two dog parks in the North End have been stalled by inclement weather.

The next RUFF monthly meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 19 at 7pm in the Nazzaro Community Center.
