Friends to Hold Casino Night Fundraiser

It’s that time of the year when the Friends of Christopher Columbus Park (FOCCP) put together its annual fundraiser to support park projects throughout the year.

This year FOCCP have organized a “Casino Night” at the Marriott Long Wharf Hotel, Harbor View Ballroom with a cocktail hour, a silent auction, heavy hors d’oeuvres, gaming tables, “Casino Cash” and as a special treat, a photo booth sponsored by CL Waterfront Properties, LLC.

“We are all excited and looking forward to our first Casino Night,” said FOCCP member Kim Caverly, chair of the event. “We have planned an evening that will be filled with fun, laughter and great food. It’s an odds-on favorite to be the social of the year,” she added.

Since its founding in 2001 FOCCP has grown in members and commitment to the neighborhood performing Tot Lot Clean-ups, 4th of July Celebration, an Old Fashion Picnic in the Park, Sunday Night Movies in the Park and Columbus Day Celebration events.

The major corporate sponsors of FOCCP are: Al Dente and Benevento’s Restaurants, Boston PushCart, CL Waterfront Properties, LLC, Marriott Long Wharf Hotel and Tia’s Restaurant.

“The organization’s major financial investment is the lighting of the trellis,” FOCCP President Joanne Hayes-Rines said. “All of the funds we have raised are supplemented by thousands of volunteer hours of work,” she added.

The Rose Garden is totally maintained by FOCCP Horticultural Committee. A dedicated and active membership works diligently to supplement the City of Boston maintenance program in the park.

The fundraiser will be held on Friday, November 16 at 7pm. Tickets are $115 each and can be purchased online at www.foccp.org.

On Monday, November 19 Mayor Thomas Menino will light the trellis for the holiday season. Refreshments and entertainment will be provided. The activities start at 5:30pm.
