One of the most popular activities held at the annual North End Pride Week coordinated by North End Against Drugs is the Bocce Tournament held at Langone Park.
This year the tournament was conducted in memory of the late North End resident Johnny Paolo, who actually coordinated the event each year for NEAD.
Replacing Paolo as the director of the tournament this year was Mike Giannasoli who volunteered to organize the community event.
Paolo’s family was in attendance and participated in the Bocce Tournament.
“Mikey Fudd did a terrific job under difficult circumstances,” NEAD President John Romano noted. “John Paolo always did a great job handling this tournament and it was a nice gesture and with great pride NEAD named the tournament in memory of one terrific guy, who was always in the front row when it came to the neighborhood organization.”
The tournament’s first place team was Gabriel DA’Nunzio, Susanna Riola and Gary Forziati.
Picking up second place were Carmine Vittoria, Jens Vittoria and Achille Petrillo.
Third place was captured by Pasquale Barone, MaryJane Paolo and Domenic Campochiaro.
