Columbus Day Parade Returns to North End

The Bi-annual 2019 Christopher Columbus Day Parade returns to the North End on Sunday, Oct. 13, according to the North End Columbus Day celebration committee.

The parade begins at City Hall starting at 1 p.m. and makes its way through Downtown Boston, the Waterfront, and Columbus Park, before it proceeds through the streets of the North End.

Parade participants include Boston Police and Fire Honor Guard, military personnel, and vehicles, marching bands, drum and bugle corps, antique cars, North End feast floats, neighborhood groups, flag throwers from Solomona, Italy, and much more.

The Committee claims the best viewing will be on Hanover and Endicott Streets in the North End.

Parade Coordinator, John Pregmon, a North End resident and community activist said, “The parade is a great opportunity to cheer on the brave men and woman who served and protect us here at home and abroad.”

Pregnant added, “It’s a wonderful day for neighborhood celebration, Italian-American heritage and fun for the whole family.”

In conjunction with the parade and evening of celebration will be held at Filippo’s Restaurant on Friday, October 11 featuring music, prizes, raffle items, refreshments and cocktails.

This year’s Michael A. Nazzaro Committee Service Award will be presented to Joseph “Pepe” and Fred Giangregorio for their commitment and dedication to the neighborhood and the Italian American community.

They the former owners of the Green Cross Pharmacy on Hanover Street that serve the North End for many years.
