Lowering street speed limit proposed by Mayor

Mayor Martin Walsh is proposing lowering the speed limit on neighborhood streets to 20 mph from the current speed limit of 25 mph.

The Mayor plans to work with the City Council and the Legislature to reduce the speed limit on neighborhood streets as a way to all improve roadway safety for people walking, driving and bicycling on city streets.

The measures should be adopted in a speedy fashion.

Public Spaces, parks and playgrounds need dog droppings cleanup

It’s springtime and the snow has melted leaving community parks, playgrounds and other open spaces covered with months of dog droppings and debris uncovered.

The warmer weather will bring out children, teenagers, adults and seniors seeking to utilize these open spaces that need a real good cleaning for access and health reasons.

Only one neighborhood organization, that makes any kind of effort to coordinate and cleaning these open spaces is RUFF, which has been doing the volunteer community service for years.

But the group cannot do it alone. All North End canine owners should find the time to participate in these cleanup efforts with RUFF.

All North End public spaces are in need of some serious cleanup attention.

That’s the City’s job, doesn’t cut it anymore. It’s everyone’s job to pitch in to make the neighborhood clean.

Watch for RUFF announcements and join in the endeavor to have clean our public spaces.
