Registration for NEAA Baseball Underway

Baseball registration for the 2019 season is currently underway according to North End Athletic Association (NEAA) Baseball Coordinator John Romano and Commissioner Ralph Martignetti.

Players need to be between the ages of 4-21 to play on a variety of teams and clinics. Age is determined by players’ age on April 30, 2019.

There are a number of age-based programs offered under the NEAA umbrella.

A four-year-old clinic every Sunday from 10 a.m. to noon starting on May 5, and ending June 23.

“The clinic teaches baseball skills like catching, throwing and baserunning and developing a love for the game,” Romano said.

T-ball for five-year-old takes place on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon starting May 4, and running through June 22.

Minor League ages 6-7 is a coach pitch program with teams usually playing twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays starting at 5:30 p.m. and ending at 7 PM.

Junior League ages 8-9 is a player/coach pitch program that plays the same time as the Minor League.

Major League ages 10-12 teams play Monday-Thursday at 5:30 p.m.

Dodger’s program for 13-21 years of age. Multiple teams that travel consistently, competing in a highly competitive level of baseball. The program is designed to get players ready for high school and/or college baseball.

“In addition to baseball, the NEAA has started a Girls Softball League ages 7-12 coached by Chuck Bilikas,” Romano said. The program takes place Monday-Friday at 5:30 p.m.

“As some of you know, groundbreaking for our new fields is April 1,” Romano noted. “This means the 2019 season will not take place at Puopolo Park or Langone Field,” he said. “The City is currently working to find us a home for the 2019 season.”

“We have options and are trying to figure out what makes sense for our players, coaches and parents. Our 2020 season and beyond will take place on brand-new fields,” Romano said.

Registration is $50 per player which provides a jersey, hat and great baseball. Registration is open online at neaabaseball.org.
