NEWRA Supports Use of Basement Space

Originally, there were three voting items on the May 10 North End/Waterfront Residents’ Association (NEWRA) monthly meeting held in the Nazzaro Community Center.

However, two of them were withdrawn by the petitioners and could find their way to the NEWRA June monthly meeting.

The third agenda voting request by Anthony Virgilio for Jennifer Royle, owner of Dare to Taste, LLC to utilize the basement space at 445 Hanover Street as a food preparation space resulted in 6-6 vote. However, the Review was told by one of its members it was eventually supported.

One withdrawn request by Fiumara Realty Trust involve the erection of a two-story vertical addition to the existing three-story building at 38 Fleet Street and to change the legal occupancy from three residential units to five residential units.

Also withdrawn was a request by Jeffrey Drago to change the legal occupancy at 97 Salem Street, a one-story building from one real estate office to one realty space and nine residential units and to erect a five-story building above the existing one-story building, not to exceed 55 feet.

Jesse Brackenbury, Executive Director of the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Conservancy, advise the Association of the creation of Greenway Business Improvement District (BID) and a recent Lynch Foundation Gift to the North End Parcel of the park.

Suffolk County Register of Deeds candidates Stephen Murphy (current Register) and Katie Forde attended the meeting, introducing themselves and answered questions.

The next NEWRA monthly meeting will be held on Thursday, June 14 at 7 PM in the Nazzaro Community Center.
